It's not what you hear, it's what you speak.
It's not what you receive, it's what you do.
It's your response that defiles you. You're doings determines your purity. It's not what you have possession of, it's how you use the thing. How you use a thing will determine what's inside. Luke 6:45 says: "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." (KJV) Good character allows you to not be affected by what's on the outside. It creates a life of peace.
How do you build your character? Start by identifying where you fall short. You must be honest with yourself and others, to build correctly. Though it can be a challenge especially with being honest to another individual on where you stand, it's probably the most crucial thing you can do to advance past where you are! When you're honest with yourself you can start planning. However, how many times have we said we'll do something but failed to follow through? Communicating with others allows you to be held accountable. When held accountable, you're pushed to discipline. That discipline in return produces fruit like peace and joy.
Remember: Where we fall short It's not when we obtain but what we choose to do with was has been obtained.
